Starting a Maria Goretti Network Chapter
For those interested in starting a Chapter, please contact Miguel Prats and he will help you attend an online meeting,
In addition to a willingness to be a vessel of the Holy Spirit in the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, the following are required:
Two lay leaders who:- Are survivors of abuse and are well along their road of recovery and healing
- Have a holy desire to minister to other survivors
- Have a relationship with Jesus Christ
- Are familiar with the mission of MGN and will abide by the Network's Guiding Principles
- Are familiar with the structure of monthly meetings and are willing to follow the Ground Rules of MGN meetings
A spiritual advisor who is- A priest or clergy with a desire to support the mission of MGN
- Able to establish MGN is his parish
- NOT required to attend monthly meetings but able to keep the group in his prayers
A meeting place that is:- Quiet and safe for survivors to gather for monthly meetings
This structure is what we have found to be essential to create the best environment in which God's healing graces can be welcomed into a survivor's life and which help support a survivor in his/her road to healing and forgiveness.

We Do Informational Meetings Where We Come To You.
Here's Fr. Gavin's response to a priest asking how long we needed to speak at the Informational Meeting where the public's invited to a talk by Fr. Gavin and myself with questions afterward:
"Probably an hour and a half is a good length. Sometimes there are some leaders or particularly interested persons that would be good to have a meal with before the talking. Since we are coming up, we would gladly meet with as many folks as you can reasonably set up. If it would be helpful to go by the Chancery early, we could do that as well. Call me if you would like to discuss options. We are pretty flexible and like to help spread the healing message. I might suggest we open with me giving a few observations on the problem of abuse in our Church and in our society. Then have Miguel share his story of the effect of abuse on his life and of his finding a path toward healing. Then we could do some Question and Answers and an announcement of the beginning of a peer support group.
